Music & makeup Monday

19 Sep

(September 17th, 2012)

This artist ‘Oberhofer’ is really making a big splash in music! If you’ve seen the Life Water Sobe commercials featuring Ashley Green, or have seen the recent Summer 2012 Samsung phone commercial featuring a band playing on top of a tall building, then you’ve heard Oberhofer.
Looking at how big time he’s made it along with his band makes me want to get out and go deliver something amazing to the world.
I went to Tacoma School Of the Arts, in Tacoma Washington and watched so much talent transform infront of my eyes. Brad Oberhofer was one of those people. He graduated a year ahead of me in 2008, and is a great inspiration to follow your passion and dreams. As cheesy as that sounds. Ha! q:
Congrats Brad Oberhofer for  makin it big and reminding me that I can do this!

This week I’m really taking hold of the idea that Orange is the color of the year.
Sephora taught me that. (;
Personally it is a very hard color to pull off, but for others it looks amazing!
Lips and eyes are loving this color!

Yes, I’ve only got one song this week, it is one of my new favorite bands!
They’re worth a listen!

This week I’m so ready for Fall!
I’m starting to really love plum colors, they’re warm and cozy with a bit of an edge.
Using plum, either light or dark, in your makeup can bring out your features if used in the correct way! Never over do! If you have a dark plum lip, best stick with a nude eye. If your using plum as an eye shadow color, stick with a bit more of a nude lip.

This week my music is random!

The makeup look for this week is the color gold!
I use gold almost everyday in my eye shadow. It gives my eye depth without being too bright or too colorful and clown-like.
It’s just the right amount of shine!

The gold eye shadow look.

The golden inner eye.

Golden bronzer, eye, and nail.

The gold lip.

I recently came across this band that I am falling for fast!
from the United Kingdom is my new favorite band right now.
They’ve got soulful melodies and plenty of cool new sounds integrated with their indie / experimental feel.

I adore this gals style.
She is my inspiration this week for a smokey cat-eye makeup.

To. Die. For.

I find it hard to get out of my comfort routine of putting on my dark cat eye and slight blush but I’m trying to get into the ‘fresh face’ look.
I always think I look weird when I try it out in the morning, but it deserves another try!

This week I’m going to try to be more inspired by color. When I do my makeup I stick to black, browns, and gold.
I’ve always been scared to use colors other than neutrals thinking that I’d always look like I was from the 80’s or something.
Looking at some videos on how to use color not only smartly but to your advantage given your eye color or skin tone has given me a bit of a boost and a step in the right direction. You don’t have to be scared of color anymore!

Blue has been the one color I really stay away from. However you don’t have to smother it on your entire eyelid.
A simple swipe of color in your crease and in the inner corner of your eyes can give you the color you want without over powering your eye.

With this pinkish/purple color they’ve created a smokey eye complemented with a bold lip.

This rustic redish brown color is used under the lower lash line and paired with a white inner eye color that brightens and lightens that otherwise heavy and dark under eye color.

Using one color tone is another way to make yourself look like your from a Twisted Sister music video, but by adding in another shade of the same color you can add depth and interest.

Even green makes an appearance here. This may not be the shade for you, but having a black eye liner on your lash line helps to break up the severity of the color as well as add structure to your wild spirited color. Again the lip color plays a big roll in the look and feel of this neon green. The colors complement each other and pull the whole look together.

Bring it on color, I’ll kick your ass. (;

This week’s music is a little darker than the last.
These are some of my favorite bands of all time.

This weeks look is a dark eye paired with a dark lip.
There are a few ways to do this, the dark lip doesn’t necissarily mean you have to wear black lipstick. But a darker red like a plum works well with a dark smokey eye.
I will wear this look even during the summer.
Usually dark eyes and lip color don’t go hand in hand, but this is the exception.
If you have a dark brow this will work well for you too.
